A deep maroon chanderi kurta set with the gold laid along one line. Hand embroidery in sequins and moti runs the full placket from the neck to below the chest, closing in a small paisley flourish, and returns at the round neckline and down both side slits. The sleeves are left entirely plain - the whole decision of this garment is where the gold is not.

Abhya means without fear. It is the oldest gesture in Indian sculpture: the raised open palm, nothing held in it, no weapon and no offering. A vertical line down the centre front and an open hand are the same shape.

Over it, a green dupatta, striped fine in gold and finished with a scalloped edge and green poms.
