An ivory chanderi kurta set with the gold woven in, not printed on - a fine zari check running the length of the kurta, catching light only when you turn. The V-neck is outlined in dense gold hand embroidery; the half sleeves carry a scatter of sequin and moti that gathers into a solid band at the cuff. The pants repeat the scatter across a deep panel at the ankle. The dupatta is organza, striped in maroon, gold and silver, finished with maroon tassels.

Sadhna is the practice - the thing done again and again until it stops being effort. It is how the check gets onto this cloth: one weaver, one loom, the same two picks repeated across four metres, for as long as it takes. There is no faster version of it.

Ivory for the daytime - the havan, the long lunch, the visit that turns into four visits. The dupatta is where the maroon arrives, so the set carries both halves of the season on one hanger.
