A chanderi saree in three parts. Ivory holds the upper body and the pleats; charcoal takes the lower half and the fall; between them runs a broad woven band of fine gold check, the same check that runs through this collection. A thread of maroon outlines every edge, and gold sequin and moti handwork is scattered loose across the pallu - heavier at the corner, thinning as it climbs.

Goonj is the sound that comes back. Not the note itself - what the room does with it afterwards. The three colours work the same way: the gold band is struck once at the waist and returns at the pallu, at the border, at the hem, quieter each time.

Ivory above, charcoal below. It reads long, and it reads restrained from across a room - which is the point of a saree that has to last from a morning puja to a nine o'clock dinner without being changed.
