A Dehri tissue chanderi co-ord set in emerald, built from two weaves of the same green. The top is plain chanderi, cut as a sleeveless front wrap that crosses at the front and ties at the side; the gold-check tissue shows at the shoulder where the wrap folds back, and takes over completely below the waist in a wide pleated skirt with pockets. The ties are long, and hand-beaded in gold along their length - a scatter that thickens towards the ends, so the work shows only when they hang.

Dehri is the threshold. It is the one part of a house that is decorated for everyone else: the marigolds go above the door, the rangoli goes outside it, and none of it is visible from any room you actually sit in. A doorway is a house saying something to the street.
