A Syahi chanderi kurta  built on one long diagonal. The kurta is cut so the hem falls to a point at each side and lifts in between; the sleeves are half, finished in a band of gold sequin and moti hand embroidery; two more bands, cut as leaves, rise from the side slits. 

Syahi is ink. Not black - black is flat and arrives all at once. This is the charcoal a room takes on an hour after the lamps are lit, and the maroon underneath is the red that has already been somewhere and come back.
