A plain maroon chanderi saree with the gold kept to the edges - a fine zari stripe running both borders and the pallu end finished with an emerald green piping in between - and small gold sequin dots scattered loose across the body, as though something gold had been shaken over it. Emerald green poms finish the pallu, contrasting with the maroon deeper than it is.

It is the saree for the evening that matters most in the season, and then for the next three winters, which is a different and better reason to own one.
